This 100' long mural was unveiled during the Collingwood Art Crawl on September 16th 2023. Original paintings, photography, and digital art combine with archival photos, illustrations, maps, historical information, and children's drawings.
Eden, Rebecca, and Sandra of Future Day worked with the Town and Collingwood Museum to create a visual journey through the history of the Collingwood Rail. Children attending the museum's summer camps were invited to participate by colouring in chicks and hens illustrations in period clothing, a nod to the original name of the region, Hen and Chickens Harbour. This image was chosen to adorn a utility box in Midland. The final image was created in Adobe Illustrator from a hand drawn sketch. Using vector rather than bitmap technology allowed the image to be enlarged to any size with perfectly crisp lines and smooth gradients.
